Ducks claim left wing Niklas Hagman of Calgary on re-entry waivers

The Ducks are turning into Team Finland.

The struggling team claimed left wing Niklas Hagman of Calgary on re-entry waivers Monday, and will pick up a prorated amount of Hagman’s salary, about $1.1 million. That’s not a big investment and could result in an all-Finn line: Hagman’s possibly playing with countrymen Teemu Selanne and Saku Koivu.

The Ducks, with two wins in their last 12 games, need help up front. Hagman had four points in eight games with the Flames.

Kings moves

The Kings recalled forward Andrei Loktionov from the Ontario Reign of the East Coast Hockey League. He had been sent to the Reign by the Kings’ minor league affiliate in Manchester, N.H., on Sunday.

On Monday, he practiced in El Segundo on a line with Mike Richards and Dustin Brown.

The moves started after forward Dustin Penner was put on the injured reverse list because of a hand injury.

Penner was joined on the list by defenseman Alec Martinez, who was hit hard in the first period by Minnesota’s Warren Peters on Saturday.

Martinez returned to action and despite discomfort he scored in the second period. He did not practice Monday because of an upper-body injury and Kings Coach Terry Murray said he expected Martinez to be out for “a little bit.”

The Kings recalled defenseman Slava Voynov from Manchester to replace Martinez.

“He [Martinez] came back and scored a big goal on the power play and got himself through the game playing pretty well,” Murray said. “But as you get calmed down and the adrenaline starts to settle down, then you start to feel things. And he spent all day [Sunday] at his place just icing every 20 minutes or so to see how he was going to feel today, get some of the swelling out. And it was no-go.”
