With Brandon Weeden acquired, Browns look to trade Colt McCoy

The Cleveland Browns used the 22nd pick on Oklahoma State quarterback Brandon Weeden, and are now looking to deal last season’s starter, Colt McCoy.

“It’s something we’ll talk about tonight and tomorrow,” General Manager Tom Heckert told reporters Thursday night, after the Browns addressed two big needs in the first round, starting with trading up one spot to grab Alabama running back Trent Richardson third overall.

The belief is that Cleveland wants to move up to the top of Friday night’s second round. They currently have the 37th pick.

McCoy was ineffective as a starter last season and his family was not happy with the way the organization handled his concussion.

Browns Coach Pat Shurmur wasn’t the mood to discuss McCoy’s future when asked about it after the first round.

“We got a new quarterback that’s going to be with us,” Shurmur said. “Tonight is about Brandon Weeden, not about the competition.”

According to the website Packer Report, Green Bay has had discussions with the Browns about trading for McCoy.
