UC Riverside defeats UC Irvine in overtime

at UC Riverside 72, UC Irvine 69 (OT): Three players scored in double figures as the Highlanders won an overtime thriller. The Highlanders (14-16, 7-9) led by 10 points at halftime, but the Anteaters (11-19, 6-10) tied the score with seconds remaining in regulation to send the game into overtime. In the extra period, UC Riverside built a seven point lead but Irvine closed to within a point, 70-69, with one second left. The Highlanders’ Phil Martin was fouled on the inbounds pass, made both free throws to make it 72-69, and the Anteaters missed on a desperation heave at the buzzer.

at Cal Poly San Luis Obispo 67, Pacific 38: Forward Chris Eversley scored 16 points and had 13 rebounds off the bench to lead the Mustangs.

at UC Santa Barbara 90, UC Davis 43: James Nunnally had 21 points and Orlando Johnson added 20 for the Gauchos.

WOMEN

USC 65, at Washington State 54: Ashley Corral scored 25 points and Christina Marinacci added 18 to lead the Trojans. Corral also grabbed 10 rebounds for the Trojans (18-11, 12-6) in the final regular-season game for both schools. Cassie Habberts had 11 points and four assists for USC, the No. 3-seeded team in this week’s conference tournament. The top four teams get a bye into Thursday’s second round. Brandi Thomas led the Cougars (11-19, 5-13) with 17 points and eight rebounds. The Trojans pulled away from a two-point game with a 13-0 run over a seven-minute stretch in the second half.

at Washington 67, UCLA 59: Regina Rogers had 22 points and 11 rebounds to lead the Huskies. Washington (15-12, 7-10 Pac-12) never trailed in the second half. Jazmine Davis added 18 points for Washington. Markel Walker led the Bruins (14-15, 9-9) with 20 points and 17 rebounds. Thea Lemberger added 15 points and Rebekah Gardner had 10. Both teams shot poorly from the field, combining for a 35.6% clip.
