Deron Williams or Tiger Woods: Who had a more impressive Sunday?
Deron Williams scored more points than anyone else in New Jersey Nets history. Tiger Woods shot his lowest final-round score ever.
Needless to say, Sunday was a big day for both men. But who had the bigger day?
Williams scored a franchise-record 57 points to lift the Nets to a 104-101 victory over the Charlotte Bobcats, passing the previous mark of 52 points that was shared by Mike Newlin and Ray Williams.
It’s a career high for Williams and the most points scored in an NBA game since Kobe Bryant’s 61 for the Lakers against the New York Knicks on Feb. 2, 2009.
Woods shot a 10-under-par 62, including a pair of eagles, on the final day of the Honda Classic at PGA’s National Champions course in Palm Beach Gardens, Fla.
His rally after starting the day nine off the lead came up just short -- he finished a stroke behind winner and new world No. 1 Rory McIlroy -- but Woods’ 270 total was his lowest since his most recent PGA Tour victory, at the 2009 BMW Championship.
