Peyton Manning might be interested in the Houston Texans -- there’s plenty of speculation out there that he is -- but he can cross them off his list.

At least that’s the message that Texans owner Bob McNair sent Tuesday in an interview with KILT-AM in Houston. He said the team is perfectly happy with current quarterback Matt Schaub and isn’t ready to move him aside, even for a four-time most valuable player.

“If there were an ideal club for him to be with, if it was just his decision alone, it would be the Texans because that gives him the best chance to win and that’s really what he’s looking for,” McNair told the station, according to NFL.com. “But, we have a quarterback that we’re happy with. Now the teams that he’s talking to are the teams that don’t have a quarterback and they’re taking the risk of bringing a player in that they haven’t even worked out.”

The Tennessee Titans are in the Manning sweepstakes, and their coach, Mike Munchak, and offensive coordinator, Chris Palmer, are expected to meet with him soon.

McNair says he’s unconcerned.

“It really doesn’t matter,” he said with a laugh. “We beat him when he was healthy and we’ll do it again.”
