Nebraska gets ‘special’ nod over UCLA from Jeff Van Gundy

Share

Jeff Van Gundy has seen UCLA play football.

And he’s picking Nebraska to win today’s nonconference game at the Rose Bowl.

The former NBA coach, now a popular television analyst, was a guest this morning on ESPN’s “GameDay.”

Asked to pick the UCLA-Nebraska game, Van Gundy didn’t hesitate.

He said he had been in attendance at UCLA’s game against Rice in Houston last week.

“Special teams, horrible for UCLA,” Van Gundy opined. “I think that will be the difference. Nebraska wins.”

We’re not sure exactly how much Van Gundy knows about college football, but we do recall him making a shoestring tackle at a basketball game.

Remember the brawl he found himself in the middle of, holding on to Alonzo Mourning’s ankles for dear life while sliding on the floor?

You can have the Michael Jordan heroics. I’ll take that Van Gundy-Mourning video (see below) as an all-time NBA highlight.

The rest of the “GameDay” crew made Nebraska a unanimous choice.
