Nebraska Coach Bo Pelini was taken by ambulance from Saturday’s home game against Arkansas State after becoming ill on the sideline during the first half.

Pelini stayed on the sideline until halftime, but he did not come out with his team for the third quarter.

Pelini, 44, was reportedly suffering from flu-like symptoms and a member of the Nebraska medical staff was seen on the sideline checking his pulse.

Nebraska led at the half, 28-3, on its way to a 42-13 win.

John Papuchis, Nebraska’s defensive coordinator, acted as head coach in the second half.

Pelini said in a statement from the hospital after the game that he was doing fine.

“They ran some precautionary tests on me and everything checked out fine” Pelini said. “I plan to be back at work tomorrow. I’m proud of the way our coaching staff and team responded.”
