Apparently Durant has more important things on his mind than trying to catch New York's Carmelo Anthony in the scoring chase ... such as resting up and staying healthy to lead the top-seeded team in the Western Conference into the playoffs.
"SITTING OUT TONIGHT'S GAME, if you disappointed I didn't try to go for the scoring title, oh well!!" Durant said in a message he wrote on his phone's notepad and posted on Instagram.
Anthony, who also will be sitting out Wednesday night when the Knicks wrap up the season against Atlanta, is averaging 28.7 points per game. Durant, who is averaging 28.1 points per game, would have needed to score 70 points against the Bucks to claim the title.
Durant might have a chance to take an even greater prize over Anthony if the Thunder face the Knicks in the NBA Finals.
