Live discussion: What’s the latest with the Lakers and Clippers?

Share

Something not-so funny happened to two of the NBA’s hottest teams heading into their latest showdown for local supremacy Friday at Staples Center.

They both lost.

The Clippers had won a franchise-record 17 straight before a lackluster effort against Denver resulted in a 92-78 loss on Tuesday. They have a chance to start a new winning streak Wednesday night against Golden State before facing L.A.’s other NBA team.

The Lakers also came out flat Tuesday. They had won six of their last seven games but fell to Philadelphia, 103-99, causing Times writer Mike Bresnahan to comment in his game article:

“If this was indicative of the kind of display the Lakers (15-16) intend to put on against the resurgent Clippers (25-7) on Friday, well, good luck.”
