Utah center Al Jefferson on sitting out three games because of a sprained ankle: “It sucks, man. I felt useless, attitude’s messed up. Didn’t really feel like talking to nobody. I just go into this dark place because you ain’t playing basketball.”

In it to win it

Denver guard Ty Lawson on the Nuggets’ chances in the playoffs: “I was talking to [teammate Andre] Iguodala a couple of days ago and I was like, ‘Man, we can really win a championship if everybody is mature and gets serious about the game plan.’ Because sometimes you just do stuff that is out of the ordinary or just, we don’t pay attention or if we get up 15 points we just shoot regular shots or ‘see if I can make it shots’ and teams come back.”

Don’t call us …

Washington guard Martell Webster, on learning he was no longer wanted by Minnesota before signing with the Wizards: “It would have been more respectful if I would have gotten a phone call instead of seeing it on the ESPN ticker. That is just me. Maybe that is the way it is done, but I think it would have been a bit more tasteful if I would have gotten a phone call.”
