Cal Poly Pomona falls against Seattle Pacific, 67-54

BELLINGHAM, Wash. — Cal Poly Pomona suffered a season-ending 67-54 loss to Seattle Pacific on Monday afternoon in an NCAA Division II second-round playoff game.

With DeRonn Scott out because of a foot injury, Pomona made only three of 16 three-point shots. Mitchel Anderson led the Broncos with 12 points and Jordan Faison scored 10.

“I’m very proud of our team,” Broncos Coach Greg Kamansky said. “These guys represent our university in the best way and we certainly battled out there today. This group set a new standard for our teams in the future and that’s hard to do with what our program has accomplished in recent years.”

Seattle Pacific led, 35-31, after one half and extended the lead to seven points about two minutes into the second half. Pomona went on an 8-0 run, with Anderson capping the rally with a fastbreak dunk, giving the Broncos a 41-40 lead.

The Falcons took control down the stretch, with junior forward Patrick Simon leading the way. Simon finished with 18 points and 13 rebounds and made four of six three-point shots. The Falcons’ 14 three-point baskets matched the highest total for a Broncos opponent this season.
