Girls Division V: Chatsworth Sierra Canyon (23-9) vs. Los Altos Hills Pinewood (23-7), 10 a.m. — Sierra Canyon sophomores Kennedy Burke (6 feet 1) and Cheyanne Wallace (5 feet 10) scored 28 and 20 points, respectively, in the regional final. The Trailblazers are making their first state championship appearance. Pinewood is seeking its seventh state title. The pick: Sierra Canyon.
Girls Division III: Mission Hills Alemany (31-5) vs. San Francisco Sacred Heart Cathedral (26-6), 2 p.m. — Coach Bryan Camacho guided Burbank Bell-Jeff to a Division V state title in 2009 and now has the Warriors poised to claim their first title. Hannah Johnson, a 6-foot-1 junior, has been a formidable offensive player for the Warriors. The pick: Alemany.
Girls Division I: Long Beach Poly (29-5) vs. Berkeley (22-11), 6 p.m. — Poly is bidding for its fifth state championship. Berkeley is 2-9 in state finals. Poly has fought back after being eliminated in the Southern Section 1AA playoffs, led by improved three-point shooting from sophomore Tania Lamb. The pick: Poly.
Boys Division I: Santa Monica (29-6) vs. Elk Grove Pleasant Grove (27-6), 8 p.m. — California-bound Jordan Mathews should have Golden Bears fans rooting for him. He’s averaging 25 points in the playoffs. Santa Monica also relies on guard Troy Maloney’s three-point shooting and the rebounding of Chris Smith. Pleasant Grove has strong guards, led by Matthew Hayes. The pick: Santa Monica.
