LAS VEGAS — Floyd Mayweather Jr. weighed in at 146 pounds for his Saturday night welterweight title defense against Robert Guerrero, who weighed the limit, 147 pounds.

Mayweather (43-0, 26 knockouts) said after weighing in at the MGM Grand Garden Arena, where he’ll fight Guerrero (31-1-1, 18 KOs) in a Showtime pay-per-view bout, that he’s confident of victory.

“We had a tremendous training camp, my team did a great job getting me ready, and now it’s my time to go into the squared circle and shine,” Mayweather said.

“I’ve had a great career for 17 years and I want the wins to continue.”

Guerrero, in his biggest fight yet, was a bit overactive on stage, raising his arms to the crowd and rejoicing after going nose to nose with the veteran champion.

Asked if he thought nerves were getting the best of a challenger about to fight a champion readying for his ninth pay-per-view bout since 2006, Mayweather laughed and said, “I don’t know, but this is the top level right here.”

Mayweather’s father and trainer, Floyd Sr., said he had spotted a scar above Guerrero’s right eye and has instructed his son to pursue that area.

“Three or four good hits there, I think it opens up,” Mayweather Sr. said.

Mayweather Sr. said he also believes Guerrero’s hand speed will slow around “the fourth, fifth or sixth round.

“He can’t keep up, he didn’t train hard enough,” Mayweather Sr. said.
