Update: The Spurs were the ones who put an end to the Dwight Howard era in Los Angeles, sweeping the Lakers in the first round of the playoffs last season. Tim Duncan left the Spurs’ season-opening 101-94 victory over Memphis because of a bruised chest after getting inadvertently elbowed early in the third quarter Wednesday. The team said Duncan was doubtful for Friday’s game. The Spurs set a franchise record by allowing Memphis to score only seven points in the second quarter.
