Cardinals’ Rashad Johnson loses part of his finger in game vs. Saints
Arizona safety Rashad Johnson removed his glove after making a routine tackle and found something unexpected -- and horrifying -- inside.
Part of his finger.
The fifth-year safety lost the top part of his left middle finger while tackling New Orleans running back Darren Sproles on a first-half punt return during the Cardinals’ 31-7 loss on Sunday, according to a series of tweets from Kent Somers of the Arizona Republic.
Apparently Johnson didn’t realize what had happened until taking off his glove.
He had surgery later in the day, with doctors shaving down the bone and making repairs, Somers said. The top portion of his finger, down to about the first knuckle, was lost.
Johnson has started all three games this season at free safety and has 13 tackles.
