Denver Broncos sign DeMarcus Ware
Apparently the Denver Broncos saw a few holes when they reviewed the film of their 43-8 Super Bowl XLVIII loss to the Seattle Seahawks.
On the second day of NFL free agency, the Broncos continued to plug those holes on defense, signing linebacker DeMarcus Ware to a three-year, $30-million contract, with $20 million of the deal guaranteed. The Broncos run a 3-4 defensive alignment, which Ware has played in most of his career.
The Broncos also filled other defensive needs Wednesday when they added safety T.J. Ward, formerly of the Cleveland Browns, and Aqib Talib, formerly of the New England Patriots. The three Bronco additions are considered among the top prizes of this year’s free-agent class.
Ware, who had a franchise-record 117 sacks for Dallas since being drafted in the first round in 2005, was released by the Cowboys because of salary-cap issues. The 31-year-old had a career-low six sacks last season and missed action for the first time in his career because of a thigh injury.
