Mariners 5, Angels 3

AT THE PLATE: Erick Aybar singled and tripled for two of the Angels’ six hits. Kole Calhoun, Matt Long and Andrew Romine each stole a base, giving the Angels 16 steals in 19 games. Romine, fighting for a backup infield job, has stolen four bases.

ON THE MOUND: C.J. Wilson gave up four runs — two earned — in five-plus innings. He struck out seven, giving him 19 strikeouts in 16 innings this spring. Right-hander Cory Rasmus scarcely is mentioned among the Angels’ bullpen candidates, but he pitched two scoreless innings Sunday and has a 0.00 earned-run average through nine innings this spring.

EXTRA BASES: Tempe Diablo Stadium opened to fans a half-hour late because a swarm of bees had made themselves comfortable in seats behind home plate. The Tempe Fire Department responded — flashing lights and all — and extinguished the bees. Stadium workers then hosed away the dead bees.
