So there’s a little baseball game taking place in Cleveland on Wednesday night. It’s kind of a last-minute affair that no one even knew would happen until the night before.

But now that folks know there’s going to be a World Series Game 7, tickets are in high demand. Especially since it’s the game that will decide which team will end its championship drought — the Indians (68 years) or the Chicago Cubs (108 years).

So naturally, some people fortunate enough to have tickets for the big game at Progressive Stadium are looking to cash in. Tickets are listed on StubHub early Wednesday morning for as much as $25,000 each, and that’s for a pair of upper-level reserved seats deep in left field.

The cheapest tickets StubHub has to offer are listed at $748, but those are for the standing-room-only section way behind the outfield wall. Anyone who wants to get an actual seat through StubHub is looking at spending $999 each for a pair of upper-level reserve seats along the third-base line.

Using data provided by ticket market tracker TicketIQ, ESPN is reporting that the asking price for tickets to a then-potential Game 7 jumped 7% to $4,200 and the sale prices went up 17% to $2,110 after the Cubs took a three-run lead in the first inning of Game 6 on Tuesday night.

By the time the Cubs claimed a 9-3 victory to force the decisive game, the asking price was up 19.8% and the sale price 56.4%.

“A pair of seats is costing fans $2,000 per ticket, after fees,” Patrick Ryan, co-founder of Eventellect, a resale market ticket distribution company, told ESPN. “That is more than the ‘get in price’ for eight of the past 10 Super Bowls. It’s unique, but it’s the number most industry insiders would expect the get in for a Cubs Game 7 to be.”

The most expensive Game 7 tickets sold on StubHub on Tuesday night? $19,500 each for a pair by the Cubs dugout.
