Three things to watch in college football this week
While scores of teams are looking ahead to championship week and bowl season, other high-profile programs face serious coaching questions. Some of the answers could come as soon as this week:
— Oregon Coach Mark Helfrich says he will meet with his athletic director in the next few days amid reports that he will be fired. Baylor, Purdue and Houston — which lost Tom Herman to Texas — all have spots to fill.
— After a 4-8 season, Notre Dame’s Brian Kelly issued a statement Sunday denying reports that he is exploring options elsewhere. That doesn’t mean he isn’t on the hot seat.
— Now that Ed Orgeron has shed his interim tag and will remain at Louisiana State, multiple reports have him looking to grab his old USC and Tennessee colleague, offensive coordinator Lane Kiffin, from SEC rival Alabama.
