London Olympics: What was most memorable about the Games? [Poll]

The London Olympics have come and gone, leaving us with many memorable moments along the way.

Paul McCartney performed in the opening ceremony, while the closing ceremony featured the Spice Girls, the Who and many others.

The swimmers were the stars early on, with Ryan Lochte and Missy Franklin’s winning smiles — Lochte’s enhanced by diamond “grillz,” Franklin’s backed by boatloads of youthful enthusiasm — and of course Michael Phelps recovering from a slow start to the Games, only to add to his legend.

Speaking of legends in the making (and enthusiasm), Jamaica’s Usain Bolt once again won gold medals in the 100- and 200-meter races and the 400 relay, with world records in the latter two. U.S. runner Allyson Felix also came home with three gold medals.

Then there was the U.S. women’s gymnastics team winning only its second team gold medal ever, and Gabby Douglas becoming the fourth U.S. gymnast to win the all-around title. And we can’t go without mentioning the performance of Aly Raisman (and her parents in the stands).

Misty May-Treanor and Kerri Walsh Jennings claimed their third straight Olympic gold medal in their swan song as a beach volleyball duo. The U.S. also added to consecutive gold-medal streaks in men’s basketball (two straight), women’s basketball (five straight) and women’s soccer (three straight).
