Rams cornerback Troy Hill is arrested on suspicion of DUI
Rams cornerback Troy Hill was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol on Saturday morning after a car he was driving crashed into a big rig on the 101 freeway in Encino.
“We are aware of the incident involving CB Troy Hill that occurred Saturday morning,” the Rams said in a statement. “As it is an ongoing legal matter and we are still gathering information, we will have no further comment at this time.”
Hill, 25, crashed his white Mercedes-Benz into the back of a big rig on the westbound Ventura Freeway near Haskell Avenue just west of the 101-405 freeway interchange, according to a release from the California Highway Patrol.
Hill allegedly was in the fast lane traveling at 60 mph when he swerved and collided with the truck traveling at 50 mph, the release said. The CHP said it was notified of the incident at 7:43 a.m.
An officer at the scene noted that Hill exhibited signs and symptoms of alcohol intoxication, the release said.
“A DUI investigation was conducted and, after a series of field sobriety tests were administered, Hill was determined to be under the influence of alcohol and was subsequently arrested,” the release said.
Hill was taken to the Van Nuys jail where he underwent further tests and was booked. He was released on $15,000 bail and has a Dec. 14 court date, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Dept. website.
Hill will be inactive for Sunday’s game against the Miami Dolphins, the Rams said.
Hill is the second Rams defensive back to be arrested in the last six months on suspicion of driving under the influence.
In September, safety T.J. McDonald was charged with one misdemeanor count of driving under the influence of drugs in connection with a May traffic accident in Woodland Hills. His case has been continued several times.
