Owner Jerry Jones has more reasons to smile the day after the Dallas Cowboys’ thrilling 27-26 season-opening victory over the New York Giants at AT&T Stadium on Sunday night.

The Cowboys have been valued at $4 billion by Forbes magazine, making it not only the richest franchise in the NFL, but also in the world.

No other franchise in the world, Forbes said, is worth more than “America’s Team.” The next closest is Spanish soccer club Real Madrid ($3.16 billion).

Jones bought the Cowboys, along with Texas Stadium, for $140 million in 1989 from H.R. “Bum” Bright. Not too shabby of return on investment for Jones.

Behind the Cowboys in the NFL’s most valuable includes the New England Patriots ($3.2 billion), Washington Redskins ($2.85 billion), New York Giants ($2.8 billion) and San Francisco 49ers ($2.7 billion).
