Panthers middle linebacker Luke Kuechly is expected to miss his second consecutive game with a concussion.

Kuechly is listed as doubtful for Sunday’s game against New Orleans, and Panthers coach Ron Rivera said Kuechly “more than likely” would not play.

A.J. Klein would start in place of Kuechly, who’s been in the concussion protocol since he had a head-first hit on Jacksonville running back T.J. Yeldon late in the first half of the Panthers’ Week 1 victory. Kuechly hasn’t practiced in two weeks.

The Panthers will be without veteran wide receiver Jerricho Cotchery, who was ruled out with a high ankle sprain.

Rivera said the Panthers could elevate receiver Brenton Bersin from the practice squad or use No. 3 quarterback Joe Webb as an emergency wide receiver.

Rookie offensive tackle Daryl Williams (knee) also will miss his second consecutive game.

Defensive end Charles Johnson (hamstring) practiced on a limited basis Friday and is questionable for the Saints game. Running backs Jonathan Stewart (knee) and Fozzy Whittaker (shoulder) are both questionable.
