Update: After a fruitless four-game trip in which it took only two of 12 available points, the Galaxy returns home looking for a win would dig the team out of last place in the Western Conference. Mistakes were costly during the trip; the Galaxy gave up leads in Portland and Vancouver for ties, and lost a game it dominated in Houston when goalkeeper Jaime Penedo could not handle defender Dan Gargan’s throw-in inside the 18-yard box, an error that led to the Dynamo’s game-winner. FC Dallas is winless in its last five games. The Galaxy’s Landon Donovan and Omar Gonzalez remain with the U.S. national team, training for next month’s World Cup.
