UCLA football: Nate Iese makes move back to offense
Nate Iese has crossed the line again. He has been moved back to offense after switching from linebacker/defensive end to Y-back. The hope is he can lessen the loss of Joseph Fauria.
Iese was moved to defense in the spring but has been unable to bulk up beyond 240 pounds.
“I needed to be heavier and I wasn’t getting there,” said Iese, who sat out as a redshirt last season.
It wasn’t a problem to Iese, who said, “I like being back on offense. I just need to learn the playbook better.”
Iese’s size and blocking bonuses on offense. He showed good pass-catching skills as at Elk Grove (Calif.) Sheldon High, where he had 42 receptions for 522 yards and seven touchdowns.
Fauria, now with the Detroit Lions, had 46 receptions for 637 yards and 12 touchdowns last season.
