Clippers facing big test games early in season

Share

The Clippers have lofty expectations for this season, and to reach those goals they must beat some of the best teams in the NBA.

They have already faced big tests in games against Golden State, Houston (twice) and Miami.

Now the Clippers get Oklahoma City tonight and Brooklyn on Saturday night, both at Staples Center.

Blake Griffin described the games as tests, the results of which will give “good indications of what kind of team we’re going to be.”

“To face adversity like that, you want to be able to come together and use that to your advantage. But you have to be careful because sometimes when you face adversity, it can make you slip.”

Griffin said Clippers Coach Doc Rivers has told the players they have to stay mentally tough in those test games even when things aren’t going their way.

“I think that’s something that Doc preaches to us all the time,” Griffin said. “No matter what the score, no matter good or bad, you have to stay together and not show any negative emotions.”
