So, how does Tiger Woods feel about his girlfriend calling him a dork?

Last week, skier Lindsey Vonn appeared on Katie Couric’s talk show and told a national television audience that the world’s top-ranked golfer is “dorky goofy” in private.

Woods got a chance to respond during a CNN interview.

“My teammates used to call me ‘Urkel’ back in college,” he said. “I do have that little nerdy side of me. That’s probably why I got into Stanford.”

With the 2014 Sochi Olympics drawing near, Woods also talked about the differences between golf and downhill skiing.

“You look at some of the guys on the tour and they’ve got huge guts and can’t breathe when they’re going up to the tee boxes, but they can still win golf tournaments,” he said. “In her sport, if she’s not feeling close to 100%, you’re not going to win.”

Regardless, Woods said both sports require a highly competitive nature.

“I think that’s one of the reasons why we get along so well,” he said of his relationship with Vonn.
