Dan Haren reportedly traded from Marlins to Cubs
The Dodgers paid Dan Haren’s $10-million salary this season even though he hasn’t pitched for them.
Up until Friday he played for the Miami Marlins. Now he will move on to the Chicago Cubs.
Multiple media outlets are reporting the Friday trade between the Marlins and Cubs.
According to the Chicago Sun-Times, the Marlins received Class AA pitcher Ivan Pineyro and AA infielder Elliot Soto.
In Haren, the Cubs are getting a 13-year veteran who is 7-7 with an ERA of 3.42 this season ... and whose $10-million salary for this year is completely covered by the Dodgers.
The Marlins still have All-Star second baseman Dee Gordon for free, also courtesy of the Dodgers. He’s making $2.5 million this season.
During the winter, the Dodgers traded Haren and Gordon (but not their salaries), along with Miguel Rojas, to Miami in exchange for Andrew Heaney, Chris Hatcher, Austin Barnes and Enrique Hernandez. Heaney then was traded to the Angels for Howie Kendrick.
