Former Rams linebacker Daren Bates signs with Oakland Raiders

Daren Bates made national highlight reels in 2014 when, while playing for the Rams, he leaped over the line of scrimmage and blocked a field-goal attempt against the New York Giants.

On Monday, the Oakland Raiders announced they had signed Bates, a linebacker who became an unrestricted free agent after the Rams did not make him a qualifying offer.

Bates, 25, played three seasons for the Rams, mainly on special teams.

He played in college at Auburn and joined the Rams as an undrafted free agent in 2013.

He has played in 44 games during his career. Last season, he made 10 tackles.
