15 selected for Southern California Jewish Sports Hall of Fame

Former Los Angeles City Councilwoman Rosalind Wyman, who provided support in helping the Brooklyn Dodgers move to the West Coast in 1958, is one of 15 people elected to the Southern California Jewish Sports Hall of Fame.

Others elected include national handball champion Paul Haber, 1985 U.S. Figure Skating champion Judy Blumberg, lacrosse pioneer Mitch Fenton, surfing legend Shaun Thomson, UC Santa Barbara rugby player-coach Stuart Krohn and 1950s tennis star Anita Kanter.

Others are 1940s and 1950s beach volleyball legend Bernie Holtzman, Miami Marlins president Larry Beinfest, Van Nuys Grant volleyball standout Steve Stovitz, sports media artist Mel Keefer, Roosevelt High and UCLA running back Izzy Cantor, Fremont High and USC football and track star Mel Bleeker, former Astros and Braves outfielder Norm Miller and longtime publicist Toby Zwikel.

A ceremony honoring the new inductees will be held on Jan. 26 in Bel Air at American Jewish University, home to the Jewish Sports Hall of Fame.
