The start of the season-ending NASCAR Sprint Cup race at Homestead-Miami Speedway, scheduled to begin at 12:15 p.m. PT, is set to begin after a 90-minute rain delay.

After pre-race ceremonies, the cars are on the track with the last of the wet areas along pit road getting dried.

Race coverage is on NBC until 4 p.m. PT, when it will switch to NBC Sports Network. If the race were to bpossibly finish before 4:15 p.m., NBC would presumably continue coverage until there is a winner.

“If the finish were to bleed a little bit after 7 [p.m. ET], 15 or 20 minutes, we would stay with the race and the crowning of the champion,” NBC Sports Group Chairman Mark Lazarus told the Associated Press on Sunday. “Other than that, we will move the race over.”

The Chase for the Sprint Cup title culminates with a four-driver shootout at Homestead-Miami Speedway.

Former champion Jeff Gordon is the sentimental favorite. Defending champion Kevin Harvick is the overall favorite. Kyle Busch and Martin Truex Jr. are the other two drivers with a shot at the title.
