Miami point guard Mario Chalmers will miss the Heat’s game against the Charlotte Bobcats on Saturday after the NBA upheld his suspension for a forearm shiver to the head of Dallas Mavericks forward Dirk Nowitzki, league officials announced Saturday afternoon.

Chalmers was called for a Flagrant Foul 2 in the fourth quarter of the Heat’s 110-104 victory over the Mavericks on Friday night when he fought through a screen by Dallas center Samuel Dalembert and then threw a forearm that connected with Nowitzki’s head.

A Flagrant Foul 2 is an immediate ejection for unnecessary contact that could cause injury.

A Flagrant Foul 1 is unnecessary contact but does not come with an immediate ejection. Two Flagrant Foul 1 calls in a game do lead to an ejection.

Rod Thorn, the NBA’s president of basketball operations, said the one-game suspension would be without pay.
