UCLA basketball: Jordan Adams changes mind, declares for NBA draft
UCLA guard Jordan Adams reversed himself and has declared for the NBA draft, according to a person familiar with the situation but not authorized to speak on the matter.
The turn of events means the Bruins have lost their two best players to the NBA. Point guard Kyle Anderson had already declared for the draft.
Adams’ decision, first reported on Yahoo Sports, deprives the Bruins of their leading scorer and one of the team’s top defensive players. The 6-foot-5 sophomore from Atlanta averaged 17.4 points a game and finished with 95 steals last season.
Coach Steve Alford was not available to talk about Adams’ decision, but UCLA released a statement from the coach:
“Jordan informed us yesterday that he has decided to enter this year’s NBA draft. He had two terrific seasons while at UCLA. I enjoyed coaching him this past season and wish him and his family all the best.”
The loss severely damages the Bruins’ backcourt. Reserve guard Zach LaVine has also declared for the draft.
Those three averaged a combined 41.4 points a game last season.
