If you thought UCLA was dealing with issues in the secondary, wait until you see its opponent on Saturday.

According to a report from the Seattle Times, star Washington cornerback Marcus Peters has been dismissed from the program.

Peters, a potential first round draft pick is so good that earlier in the week, UCLA wide receiver Jordan Payton said, “You only get a couple of those corners that come your way in your lifetime.”

Peters earned second-team all-Pac-12 honors last season, and had three interceptions and 10 passes defended this season. Without him, Washington’s secondary could be in trouble.

The Huskies have lost two defensive backs to injuries, and have been starting two true freshmen. A third rookie, Naijiel Hale, is lined up to take Peters’ spot on Saturday.

Things have gotten so bad that according to the same Seattle Times’ report, sophomore wide receiver John Ross III might play defense in some nickel packages this weekend.

UCLA quarterback Brett Hundley has 241 yards rushing in his last two games. His downfield throws have been inconsistent. If there’s ever a game for the Bruins to air it out, it’s going to be against this secondary.
