USC recruiting: Receiver De’Quan Hampton signs with Trojans

USC has received a letter of intent from De’Quan Hampton, the school announced.
Player: De’Quan Hampton
Position: Receiver
Height: 6 feet 4
Weight: 215
Junior College: Long Beach City College
High School: Compton Dominguez
Verbally committed: June 22, 2014
Schools considered: Illinois and Utah
Notes: Hampton was not an NCAA academic qualifier out of high school. . . . Will have two seasons of eligibility remaining.
Hampton on choosing USC:
“It’s by my family, great weather and the coaches took the actual time to recruit me.”
Hampton on competing as a junior-college transfer:
“I’ve seen my competition and I know I can compete with them. All I have to do is know the plays and know what I’m doing and I’ll have a shot at it.”
Hampton on signing a letter of intent:
“It’s a relief. It’s about time. I committed a long time ago, so I am happy to get it out of the way.”
