Silas Redd suspended 4 games by NFL for violating substance abuse policy

The NFL announced Wednesday that it has suspended former USC tailback Silas Redd of the Washington Redskins for four games without pay because of a violation of the league’s substance abuse policy.
Redd has been on the Redskins’ injured-reserve list since August when he suffered a season-ending knee injury during a preseason game.
His suspension will begin immediately.
The Redskins signed Redd as an undrafted free agent in May 2014. He rushed for 75 yards and a touchdown and caught eight passes for 107 yards in 15 games last year.
Redd transferred to USC from Penn State in 2012.
He rushed for 905 yards and nine touchdowns his junior season before he was slowed as a senior because of injuries.
