Baseball: Agoura finishes 14-0 in Marmonte League

It’s a rare accomplishment to go through league play unbeaten in baseball, but that’s what the Agoura Chargers pulled off on Wednesday, finishing 14-0 in the Marmonte League after a 10-3 victory over Westlake.

A seven-run second inning sparked the Chargers (23-5). Dylan Bahr and Albee Weiss each had three hits. Weiss hit a home run. Tyler Flores had three hits for Westlake.

Newbury Park finished in third place after a 5-4 win over Simi Valley. Zander Clarke and Dalton Duarte each had two hits. Moorpark defeated Calabasas, 3-0. Chase Fredrick threw a five-hit shutout. Chris Kovach threw a complete game in Royal’s 2-1 win over Thousand Oaks.

In the Channel League, Buena clinched the championship with a 9-0 win over Dos Pueblos. Austin Rubick threw 5 2/3 innings of shutout ball. It’s Buena’s first league title since 2004.

In the Mission League, Chaminade defeated St. Francis, 3-2. Blake Rutherford hit a home run.

In the Century League, Esperanza’s 6-3 loss to Anaheim Canyon means Santa Ana Foothill has won the title outright. John Zanze had three hits and three RBIs for Canyon.

In the Del Rey League, Bishop Amat finished as co-champion with Gardena Serra after a 7-2 win over Cathedral. Andrew Eppenbach threw a complete game, allowing four hits. Scott Hurst had three hits and two RBIs. Bryan Menendez added two hits and two RBIs. Serra defeated St. Paul, 8-2, with Denz’l Chapman hitting a home run and finishing with three RBIs.

In the Baseline League, Los Osos defeated Alta Loma, 8-2.

In the Valley Mission League, Granada Hills Kennedy (22-7, 10-1) defeated Panorama, 17-0. JJ Gonzalez went three for three with three RBIs. Kennedy is one win away from winning the outright league champion.

In the Marine League, Narbonne defeated Carson, 4-3, on a game-winning RBI double in the bottom of the seventh by Isaiah Flowers. Javier Garcia improved to 5-0 with 1 1/3 innings of relief.
