The world’s most heavily attended professional surfing competition, the Honda U.S. Open of Surfing, continues through next Sunday in Huntington Beach. More than 500 contestants from 28 countries will compete for $200,000 in cash prizes, as well as points to help them reach the World Tour. Events are open to the public and free. Parking is available for $12 at the city lots (north and south of the pier), but early arrival is key. Otherwise, expect to hike to the beach.

In addition to sanctioned surfing contests, including men’s and women’s junior divisions and longboarding (see www.usopenofsurfing for schedule), the GO211 Live action sports festival will feature skating, BMX and FMX demonstrations as well as concerts (see www.go211 for schedule). The stars of surf documentary “Bustin’ Down the Door,” about the birth of surfing as a professional sport, will be at the film’s premiere at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Bella Terra theater (see local theater listings or www.bustin). The Surfing Walk of Fame’s annual induction ceremony is 10 a.m. Thursday ( www.surfingwalkoffame.com), and the Teen Vogue Live fashion show is that afternoon from 3 to 6 p.m. (see www.teenvoguepromo.com).
