When you pack your bags for your end-of-the-year trip, make sure you slip a video recorder in with the socks and underwear. That way, you’ll be ready to shoot a video to share with L.A. Times readers.

It may even be screened Jan. 18 and 19 at the Los Angeles Times Travel Show at the L.A. Convention Center.

Here’s how it works: Using your original work, you create a video of a place you’ve been within the last five years, like the video above by Luke Salisbury called “Big in Japan.”

Submissions must be received by Jan. 6. Use of music from the YouTube audio library is allowable, but other copyrighted music, photos, images and works may not be used. If you are using music from a royalty-free source other than the YouTube audio library, please include the name of the source and the terms of use. And, of course, submissions must comply with The Times’ terms of service.

Whether it’s a snow adventure at Mammoth this holiday or video you shot during your summer vacation, we hope you’ll join others who are sharing their vacation memories. We will screen a number of the videos at the travel show, attended by thousands of visitors.
