New York City has approved a plan that will allow riders to “e-hail” yellow cabs, starting Feb. 15 on a test basis. The smartphone-based system will be tried out for one year . . . . A new sports museum called Score! has opened in the Luxor Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas, featuring interactive displays and jerseys from Babe Ruth and Joe DiMaggio . . . . The So Cal tradition of skiing and surfing in the same day has expanded to Utah. Rates start at $23,000. Yes, $23 grand . . . . Michelangelo’s “David-Apollo” is being showcased at the National Gallery of Art to open a yearlong celebration of Italian culture in more than 30 U.S. cities. The sculpture, which dates to 1530, was last shown in the U.S. capital in 1949 when it drew nearly 800,000 visitors . . . . Lufthansa began commercial service of the Boeing 747-8 Intercontinental along the airline’s Frankfurt-to-LAX route this week. L.A. is just the second destination in the U.S. and fourth in the world designated for service of the new jumbo jet . . . . The “Discover Claremont” package runs through Dec. 30.
