Frank Sinatra’s first New Jersey driver’s license sold for $15,575 Thursday night.

RR Auction sold the 80-year-old license, which was issued to a then unknown-19-year-old Sinatra. Of course, the state of New Jersey didn’t quite spell the Chairman of the Board’s name correctly.

License No. 549631 was issued to a “Francis Sintra” of 841 Garden Street in Hoboken, New Jersey. His eyes -- of course -- were listed as blue, his height was 5’8” and his weight was 130 pounds. A red 1934 was printed in the center of the artifact. The license, which cost $3, had an expiration date of Dec. 31, 1934.

Also included with the license was a letter dated March 12, 1940, to the New Jersey Commission of Motor Vehicles from an attorney of a man who had been involved in a car accident with Sinatra demanding the singer’s license be revoked until he paid his settlement agreement.
