A 19-year-old man who was riding his motorcycle to work at a coffee shop died Thursday morning after a pickup driver smashed into him in Reseda and fled the scene, police said.

The motorcyclist was traveling south on Tampa Avenue about 6:45 a.m. when he was struck by a large pickup that was driving north on the road and turning left onto Vanowen Street, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.

The truck — a white pickup with a large bed and a logo on the passenger door — drove off without stopping to provide aid or information, police said.

The motorcyclist, identified by the Los Angeles County coroner’s office as Erwan McKeown, was pronounced dead at the scene. Police said McKeown was a resident of Thousand Oaks.

McKeown had been driving to a Malibu coffee shop where he worked as a barista, a friend told KCBS-TV Channel 2.

Surveillance video captured the driver fleeing the site of the crash. Police released footage, hoping the public can help track down the driver.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the LAPD’s tip line at (877) 527-3247. Those who provide information leading to the driver’s arrest and conviction could receive a standing $50,000 reward that is offered in deadly hit-and-run incidents.
