Worker Dies, Firefighter Hurt in Building Blaze
An employee of a food distribution warehouse died and a firefighter suffered minor injuries late Thursday when a blaze swept through the building, officials said.
John Macht, 46, of Anaheim, who occasionally stayed at the business, was asleep on the second floor of the Arena Foods warehouse in the 1100 block of Blue Gum Street when the fire began about 10:30 p.m., officials said.
A firefighter was treated at Anaheim Memorial Medical Center for heat exhaustion, officials said.
The fire appeared to be accidental, but an investigation is continuing, authorities said.
