Live discussion: What’s gone wrong with the Lakers and Clippers?
What’s gone wrong with the Lakers and Clippers?
The Lakers began the season with one expectation: an NBA championship. Anything else would be considered a failure.
The Clippers began the season with high expectations too, and at least a legitimate shot at a Western Conference title.
At the moment, both teams have veered off course. Check in on our live video chat with Lakers writer Mike Bresnahan and Clippers writer Broderick Turner at 11:30 a.m. Pacific today to get the inside story on what’s going on with these two franchises.
The Lakers, after undergoing a coaching change five games into the season, are coming off one of their most miserable offensive showings in franchise history, losing to the Indiana Pacers, 79-77, while shooting an almost unheard-of 31.6%. Pau Gasol, a four-time All-Star, seems lost in new Coach Mike D’Antoni’s offense, and Dwight Howard is far from the dominating center he has been throughout his career.
NBA title? They’re under .500 at the moment.
The Clippers, who were leading the division at 8-2, are now 8-6 after dropping four in a row. Blake Griffin is coming off of his least effective game as a pro.
When will these teams turn things around?
