Houston center Ben Jones says he’ll do anything for a laugh. He also says he’ll do anything to help the team.

So the fourth-year put those two ideas together and somehow decided he should drink his own urine.

Wide receiver Cecil Shorts said Thursday morning that he saw Jones do it earlier this year during organized team activities. When asked about it by CBS Sports Radio 650 in Houston later in the day, Jones didn’t hesitate in taking credit for the stunt.

“It was a drug test day and I walked out, and [cornerback Kareem Jackson] said, ‘That looks like apple juice.’ I said, ‘How much you pay me to drink this?’” Jones said.

“He threw out a number and I just knocked it on back.”

When pressed on why he would do such a thing, Jones had several explanations ready.

“We were having a good time, and whatever makes the team better,” said Jones, who started all 16 games for the Texans last year. “I was just enjoying it -- and anytime I can get a laugh out of it, I’ll do it.”

Yes, Jones actually said “whatever makes the team better” about taking a shot of urine. And he said he enjoyed it, although you’ve got to hope he meant the hijinks and not the actual drink.
