USC football: Pat Haden reacts to NCAA ruling on Miami

USC Athletic Director Pat Haden reacted Tuesday to the NCAA’s decision regarding the University of Miami.

“We have always felt that our penalties were too harsh,” Haden said in statement on USC’s website. “This decision only bolsters that view.

“Beyond that, we have no further comment.”

In 2010, USC was hit with some of the most severe penalties in college football history for violations related to former running back Reggie Bush.

The sanctions included the loss of 30 football scholarships over three years.

The Miami case, which involved Miami booster Nevin Shapiro lavishing gifts and perks on numerous Hurricane athletes, resulted in the loss of nine scholarships over three years.
