New Ball Field Planned:In response to the city’s need for more lighted youth athletic fields, the City Council has approved $85,000 for plans for an additional field at Heritage Park. Currently, two soccer fields and two baseball-softball fields are planned for the park. But a third baseball-softball diamond also might fit, said Chuck Reid, community services supervisor. The city has eight soccer-football fields and nine baseball-softball fields. Now, however, two more soccer-football fields and two more baseball-softball fields are needed to accommodate all the youth programs, Reid said. By 1990, five more of each will be needed to meet projected growth.
