Aztecs Win Tuneup to Baseball Season
The San Diego State baseball team won its annual alumni game Sunday, 9-6, at Smith Field in the team’s final tuneup before starting the regular season.
The game was tied, 6-6, going into the bottom of the eighth when the Aztecs scored three runs to clinch it, including a game winning RBI by catcher Steve Castleberry.
Castleberry went three-for-four with two RBI and second baseman Steve Hokoma went three-for-five, with two RBI, two doubles and two runs scored.
The Aztecs open their season Tuesday at Cal State Los Angeles. The team’s home opener at Smith Field is Wednesday against Cal State Long Beach.
