San Diego Prep Basketball : No. 1 Patrick Henry Beaten by Madison, 71-67

Share

Madison High School Coach John Hannon didn’t think that it would ever happen. But thanks to Jimmy Dean’s 24 points and three other players who scored in double figures, the Warhawks handed top-ranked Patrick Henry (9-1, 22-1) its first loss of the season, 71-67, Wednesday at Madison.

“Stacking up the players and everything, I really didn’t think anyone would be able to knock off Patrick Henry,” said Hannon, whose team improved to 4-6 in the City Eastern League and 10-11 overall. “But our shot selection was real good and we played excellent defense. We got a great effort from all of our players and that’s what it takes to beat a team like Henry.”

Dean, who has paced Madison’s offense throughout the season, keyed the upset, receiving help from Erick Jackson (16 points), Tony Blount (11) and Todd Lantz (10). Patrick Henry was led by Howard Wright, who scored 24 points.
