A Carson man, who apparently became incensed when a group of bystanders laughed as he tried to park his car outside a South El Monte nightclub, shot and killed one of the onlookers and then critically wounded another, authorities said. Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Deputy Lynda Edmonds said Long Than H. Lam, 30, got out of his car and opened fire on the group with a semi-automatic handgun. Daniel Lee Schwieterman, 19, of South El Monte died from a gunshot wound at the scene. Deputies said Lam returned to his car and drove away, but was followed by a 26-year-old man. Deputies believe that Lam waited behind a liquor store for the man who was following him, and shot him there. The second victim, whose name is being withheld pending notification of relatives, is listed in critical condition at an Arcadia hospital, Edmonds said. Lam is being held without bail for investigation of murder in the Temple City sheriff’s station.
